Cafe Fresco and Bakery Menu

Sorry, We are updating this restaurant menu details.

This place is terrible. Most of the staff seemed to hate their jobs. Our server was a grumpy elderly man who brought us drinks in dirty cups. Our table was sticky, covered in lint and had chewed gum stuck to the side of it. We waited 45 minutes before asking if we could just pay for our drinks and cancel our food order. The food had not even been started yet, so we left. No one apologized. We will never go back.

Cute little restaurant hidden away in a shopping center. I had the breakfast Mediterranean wrap it was huge and delicious!!! I love this place. Will stop here for breakfast again.

Reliable for a quick lunch break. Everything I have had here seems fresh: fresh fruit, hot fries, good sandwhich meat and the ranch dressing is yumm. However, a recent change of ownership has changed things slightly. They do cut a few corners now, smaller portions, less chicken in the chicken wraps. They have great customer service at lunch. When you are looking for something on this corner thats quick , easier to park at then the mall and better than fast food, Cafe Fresco fits the bill.

Good enough, I guess. Hubby and I were late for the play and starving. Went to Panera, First Watch, and Wolf's Den. All were packed so we decided to try Cafe Fresco. No line on Sunday at 11:00 a.m. We both ordered the Farmer's Omelet. I asked for mine without peppers. The cashier asked if we wanted a side and I ordered the home fries. We also ordered coffee and were given two mugs. After paying we went and served ourselves coffee and sat down. The coffee was good and free refills. When the omelet came out, mine had peppers. Sigh. The omelettes were good, although I thought a bit skimpy in the ingredients (especially the cheese). What really was surprising was that the omelet didn't have toast or any kind of bread. Everything was a la carte. That is not what I expect for breakfast. They didn't even offer us anything from the bakery, which is strange since its part of their name. The food was good, but not outstanding.

My review was "filtered" not sure why, but it was the truth about our experience. We won't go back. Miss the old owners/management.

What a delightful spot to have breakfast! The portions are large, they use high quality ingredients, the baked goods are ridiculous, and the staff is very friendly. There is a lot of seating and the place gets a ton of morning sunlight. I am picky about bacon, and I am always hesitant to order bacon at restaurants, but their bacon is excellent. I am not a coffee guy, but they seem to have a huge coffee menu for that crowd. Their omelets are fantastic and their regular breakfast menu is also terrific.

Food was just ok. Service was fine. Good place to go if you are in a pinch for break fast food, but nothing we would choose if we were not traveling and had other options.

Don't really write too many reviews but felt motivated by the unprofessional behavior by some of the staff. While the lady who owns/runs the place is ok, some of the cooks seem to lack manners which I have observed on a few of my visits. The food and service is OK but there are too many places in the area equally good which don't offer the added attitude from the staff in the back. We also found hair in our food more than once.

This a is a nice little cafe and bakery. I enjoyed my breakfast and even took a few baked goods home(muffins A+). One thing I didn't like was that you are charged extra if you need more syrup beyond the little container you are given. So just use it wisely. Other than that the food was delicious and the service was good.

  • Rosemary L.

The baked goods are... Good...but a bit generic tasting and pricy.

I've been several times now and I always enjoy the food. I usually can't finish the sandwiches because they are so big. The only gripe that I have is they are only open for breakfast and lunch.

Decided to try here when trying to find a near by breakfast place and reading the reviews. This place is the best breakfast cafe I have been to in a LONG time. Plus because it's a small cafe the service was great and the food was delicious. The club omelet was delicious and my husband got a skillet and thought the eggs were cooked great and the pancakes were fantastic. Great find to take people to for breakfast

This is my new favorite breakfast spot! I go here all the time. The place is so clean, the GM, staff, and owners are extremely friendly and welcoming. The place is set-up in a half service way. You order at the counter, get your own drink, but they bring out your food and check on you periodically. I love the breakfast and the lunch menu. Whether I get my food to-go or dine-in, my food is always made in a very timely manner!

I use to eat here a lot (when I'd wake up in time). Great food and very clean, the staff is super friendly too. A little disappointed that the baked goods are gone though. that is an old review, I'm really disappointed with what this place has become. I won't be back

This restaurant has come full circle under new ownership. You now order at the counter and get your drinks from a soda fountain. However, they still bring the food to your table and clean up the dishes when you are done. They also stop by to check on how the food is and bring you extra napkins, etc The food is fantastic. Freshest food in the area. They are also quick to bring it out, for those on a lunch break from work. I have tried the Reuben, tuna salad sandwich and chicken sandwich. I would recommend all of them. Fries are good too. The lady who takes your order has an uncanny ability to remember what you ordered the last couple visits. This place is officially in our weekly lunch rotation. EXCELLENT!

I think we've found our new favorite breakfast spot. Casual atmosphere. Delicious homemade food with very friendly service. Corned beef hash was delicious and definitely not from a can. We will have to come back to try lunch. Owner is ex-military and he and his wife are very nice and accommodating. Would definitely recommend to anyone looking for a good fresh meal.

This place used to be one of our favorite little treats, for a good brunch or lunch. It was a little pricey, but we were always satisfied with our food, so well worth it. I'm not sure if they changed owners, but our last visit there will definitely be our last visit. It used to feel like a little bistro. They had good service and greeted you with a little sample of baked goods. Now you go to the counter and order and they bring your food out. Not much different than McDonalds. The food has definitely gone down in quality as well. There was another disappointed family sitting near us, complaining about the same issues we were having. Tasteless food, that still costs too much. Such a shame, because this place used to have a certain home cooked charm that kept us coming back.

Eating here and found hair in my food and my friend's food had hair in it too. Besides that, the meal was good.

A nondescript eatery hidden in a shopping plaza on SR56 between the interstate and Bruce B Downs. I wish we had noticed it sooner! I gave it a try one morning by calling in an order for take out. We subsequently went back for lunch and we find it a nice quiet spot to grab a bite to eat. It isn't anything fancy, but the employees are friendly and the food is decent. You are able to substitute items and get egg whites, and everything we've had has been good so far. To be fair, we've only had breakfast items (even for lunch) but who can resist a breakfast menu served all day?!

  • Nevin D.

This place is horrible! Stay away. Having cut up greasy French fries disguised as hash browns is not very appealing with a small omelette that honestly wasn't that good was not my way to start a Sunday morning. Will never go back!

This business must be under new owners?? WAS my favorite place to eat breakfast in Wesley Chapel. Insert sarcasm with "WAS". Went in for what we thought was going to be our usual delicious breakfast. They put a brand new waiter on the floor without training him. Once we FINALLY got our order taken...the waiter had to verify with the other server on the floor every question we asked. 45 mins later we received our cold food. Awful experience. Will have to find another breakfast restaurant in the WC. Couldn't give one star because coffee was decent.

  • Joe V.

Ahh! After a 2 month hiatus from this place, I show up and they have turned it into a sort of fast food joint where you have to order at the counter, pay and then the good gets delivered to you. The service level and food quality has gone downhill as well.

  • Milo B.

Used to be my "go to" breakfast place. New ownership, noticed that they altered the once superb pancake recipe. The Head Chef who was a family member was great. New chefs now. I couldn't eat the pancakes, haven't been back since, and I notice the once full parking lot on weekends is sparsely populated.

It saddens me to write this review. This use to be a great place, it has recently changed hands and is no longer the place I had frequented for years. I recently went there and ordered a "breakfast" combo and boy was it a combo, a combo of burnt home fires, burnt eggs, and burnt ham. If nothing else it was a consistent burning of my breakfast order. It now has all the ambience of a "McDonalds"

This used to be a really wonderful place, but it really pains me to say that whoever thought up the idea to change it to a less than good place to eat should be in a LOT of trouble!!! What a HUGE disappointment! Bring back the baked goods, bring back the table service, WTH are you thinking?!?

    (2)
  • John W.

Very average, I was looking forward to a "hardy" breakfast and got a breakfast that would only satisfy my 8yr old. Portion for eggs & bacon was simply silly... Overall OK experience, but I think I will hit up Cracker Barrel next time and wait the 15minutes..

  • Jenice A.

Excellent food and friendly staff, reasonable prices and no wait. My group the Sophisticates have a brunch event at this establishment and I decided to go back and take my Better Half. We enjoyed a wonderful breakfast - 5 STARS and RECOMMEND to all locals and out of towners to visit! Jaye

have been coming here for off & on for years. disappointed today... Bakery is gone... 50 cents extra for Italian bread for toast..potatoes bland. I guess they're cutting corners. took a long time to get our food & no little basket of muffins to help tide you over. alas..

I've driven by this place hundreds of times without even giving it a second glance until one of my co-workers convinced me to stop and pay a visit. Cafe Fresco is nothing fancy, just down to earth dependable food. The cafe was started by a Father & Son team with the purpose of bringing great food and fresh ingredients to the dining out experience. They chose their corner location in order to provide a bright, cheerful meeting spot for family and friends (and co-workers) to get together and enjoy themselves. The cafe's menu includes breakfast, brunch and lunch (no dinner hours), homemade soups, fresh salads, sandwiches, personal pizzas and baked goods. By this I mean Artisan breads, muffins, coffee cakes, pies and pastries from the world over (Italian, French, Greek). These are baked fresh daily. The restaurant always starts you with a bowl of complimentary bread or muffins to greet you. The flavor has changed each time I've been here. While the cafes mantra declares the freshest ingredients, one always has to be a little suspect. Hell Subway tells me to eat fresh and their idea of fresh must be something completely different than mine. With Cafe Fresco & Bakery I notice the freshness the most with their french fries. It is obvious that these bad boys, which come in both classic and sweet potato, were freshly cut. The restaurant does not over salt them or shower them in grease and the result is a fry that actually tastes like a potato. My sister-in-law went with one of the flavored options the cafe offers. She ordered them Italian style with garlic, parsley, salt and covered in Parmesan. I refrained from tasting them because of the cheese, but the family loved them. On another occasion I tried my co-workers sweet potato fries. Too sweet for me. All three times I've been to the Cafe, I've eaten the same sandwich. On one hand this is a problem, I can't review many of the other meals. But this also speaks for how good the sandwich is. The cafe accommodates dietary needs. My sandwich of choice has been the Roast Portabello Panini. It is ciabatta bread loaded with hummus and pesto, topped with a spring mix, tomato, onion, roasted red pepper, roasted portobello and provolone. I have always ordered it sans provolone and pesto. On my first visit, this made me a little nervous. Without the cheese how would it do? Both my co-worker (who ordered the exact same thing) and I agreed that the sandwich was great and didn't need the added provolone. The hummus gives it a creamy feel, like mayo without the dairy and nasty taste. The bread is light and fluffy, a great backbone for the dish. Other vegetarian/vegan sandwich options include a grilled cheese/tomato melt and garden wrap. J-Fur's dish of choice is usually the Spring Raspberry salad. It includes seasonal berries, red onion, cucumbers, blue cheese, toasted pecans and a Raspberry Vinaigrette. The day we went the berries were strawberry. Overall she liked the salad. Not being a blue cheese fan, there was a little too much for her liking and the vinaigrette was very sweet. But since it came on the side, she was able to control how much she put on (which wasn't much). Again, nothing super fancy, but always dependable.

Love this place! Its become one of my top breakfast spots! The owners are super friendly. The eggs Benedict is almost always delicious. It has become more fast food like with the ordering styles, but that doesn't particularly matter to me. Its just a nice little breakfast spot.

Good food. I love their omelettes, muffins and salads! Staff is very friendly. My only complaint is that it is pretty expensive to dine there.

Came here quite a bit on a fairly regular basis for lunch. I usually go to the wraps, the Southwest chicken wrap in particular. You can choose your wrap, which I appreciate. Their fries are ridiculously good. Just ridiculous, especially if you get them loaded. Never made it for breakfast. I enjoy the tuna melt, with cheese, and the sides. The soup of the day is something I think I've gotten every time I've gone. Didn't love the chicken tortilla; loved baked potato, chicken noodle.. the cobb salad and southwestern salad are also very good. Huge portions on the salads. Actually, everything is quite a big portion. The service is your sort of stereotypical diner type, but it's not bad. Prices are very reasonable. It can be slow, as has been mentioned - definitely a lunch hour and not a lunch half an hour type of place. Or a good option for a casual weekend meal before some Wiregrass shopping.

My first review is unfortunately no longer valid as this local "jewel" has been transformed to the local "dump" under new ownership. My family used to walk to this restaurant literally every Saturday but now the food is terribly disappointing, the "fresh" baked goods are awful and there is no friendly service. If there aren't new changes soon this restaurant will no longer need to be reviewed for obvious reasons.

Best family owned brunch place in Tampa! Breakfast burrito was amazing and cafe con leche was really good too! Def worth the visit

I frequent this establishment because it's the best cafe in New Tampa/Wesley Chapel area. The staff is friendly and the food is always fresh. I'm still working my way through the menu and so far nothing has been a disappointment. I highly recommend this cafe especially for locals.

I did not find my last experience as peachy as my previous experiences here. From talking to the waitress, I asked to customize my meal of breakfast quesadillas with less cheese, and no onions. Unfortunately she said everything was pre-made already. That was the case for my husbands skillet scramble and my previous order from when I first visited. That is concerning to me for those how of food allergies. You must be aware of this if that is the case. There was so much cheese and so many onions . It was quite unbearable. My husband's food was just okay as well. I do not feel that the amount of money spent matched the value at all.

This is exactly what you would expect for a cafe, standard breakfast items served all day and a few sandwich choices for lunch. Good food and good service. Nothing really blew me away, but I think this place has it's regulars of mostly local workers and lunching ladies that make it a cute place to come back to every once and a while. I would have expected some more bakery items because Bakery is in the name, but they only had a few muffins and some cookies without prices on them.

Service was terrible the food wasn't even that great....it was a Saturday and they weren't even busy it was just 2 of us and it took an hr to get out food...

No more bakery - what a shame. New owners must not have a handle on staffing or we must have bad luck. First visit has a similar experience as others. Longer than normal wait for a not so crowded restaurant. Tried again this weekend and asked ahead of time the wait after we were seated. The server shared that the kitchen was backed up 30 minutes due to staffing. We won't try again.

Wow, tough time today. Let's talk about positive first: food was good (not great). That's where all positive ends. Service: horrible! After bringing drinks, it took 15 mins and me raising my hand like in preschool to take order. Then took drink for refill and never came back with it! We asked about the normal bread basket, and the answer was: ran out of bread! He later brought a basket with three small, really small muffins. Finally the food: they bring my omelet without the toast. "They're working on it" working on a toast?!?!? After waiting for 8 mins, I stood up and asked for the toast, and voila, got it. Even to pay I stood up to do it. Bottom line: it's the service that will keep me away.

My family and I used to love this place. it was a great way to start the day and we always brought home some really excellent items from the bakery. The past three times we have been there, well, not sure what is going on. All the staff that we knew and loved were gone. The wonderful fresh breads and muffins that came to the table complimentary were nowhere to be found. The bakery cases might as well not be there. There was nothing like we were used to seeing. We thought the first time was maybe a bad day. The second time was on a holiday, so we gave them a third shot. Same thing. We are very disapointed. They used to be a great place, no they are only average.

  • Mac M.

It's okay, but not in the same league with First Watch. Would be a 2 but Baked goods are a 4, but breakfast is a 2.5. Really nothing special. Toast was good. Coffee was soso. Service was friendly but waitress never checked back after dropping off the food until time for the check. Wasn't busy. She waited on 2 other tables and chatted a lot with several employees. I got up and refilled my own coffee.

  • Eleni D.

The service is great, the food is amazing, but only go if you have a full lunch hour. Prep times can be a little lengthy. Usually I'll call in my order ahead of time and just pick it up and take it back to eat at the office. The actual dining area is very open and comfortable. They do a good job maintaining a nice atmosphere.

Loved this place! Husband and I came for breakfast. Great coffee for starters, excellent service. Not a huge fan of the house potatoes but everything tasted fresh. Great service, great food- will be back again !

We used to come here at least once a week. We loved this place. The food and service was impeccable. Apparently there's a new owner and its obviousness that they know nothing about good service. I myself am in the restaurant/hospitality industry and there is no excuse for the lackluster service there. On more than one occasion we waited for over an hour for our food. The waitress (a different one each time) never checked in to see what was taking so long nor to let us know that she was taking care of our meal. Today was the last straw. Several tables around us received their food despite being seated after us. When I spoke to the waitress about this she was shocked that we had been waiting so long; she completely forgot about us. We were so upset we asked for the check (we all had coffee) so we could go else where. They actually made us pay for our coffee! Well, we will never come here again!

  • Dan R.

This is the kind of place you can go to many times and not get tired of. Good food, good service and good prices. What's not to like. The waitress was refilling our drinks faster than we could drink them. Our group of 6 had all raved about the entrees and the fries - the fries are a must. I just need to go here a few more times before I would give them 5 Stars but on a one-time visit they certainly deserve it.

We returned for a second tasting this past weekend and once again Cafe Fresco did not disappoint us! I got the Florentine Benedict and it was delicious. The eggs were poach perfectly and the hollandaise sauce very well done too. My husband ordered the Creme Brulee French Toast which was equally as tasty, but be warned, they are sweet. The sausage patty also tasted fresh, homemade and delicious. Still the best breakfast around the Tampa Bay area that we have experienced. Also don't leave without getting a baked good from their bakery case. The is cannoli is so good your eyes will roll back inside your head. We also enjoyed the mini eclair.

One of the best small cafes I've been too. The food quality is excellent and all the staff are extremely helpful. The bakery also has some awesome treats for everyone. An average price range as well. Highly recommended.

My meal started out OK. The server was very friendly and gave us some nut bread to eat while we waited. I got an omelet that was very overpriced and came with some raw potatoes and a single piece of Italian toast. I am used to getting 4 slices of toast with my eggs so I asked for a 2nd piece of bread. The waitress told me that the manager insists that she charge me for the extra slice of toast. I thought that was ridiculous and asked to see the manager, and she was a very unfriendly woman who told me that this is their policy and it is not up for debate. Can you imagine? I suggested that they were losing a customer over a 5 cent piece of bread and she said "oh well." In this economy, I am not spending my dollars at a place that doesn't appreciate my business. I won't give those people another penny of my money!

    (1)
  • Ashley C.

The manager here is an awful lady and most of the servers follow her lead in being utterly nasty. I also had a run-in with the very unfriendly female manager who said that my 2.5 year old could not stack the jelly containers and wanted to remove the condiment caddy from my table so that she couldn't get to them. My child does like to stack those containers but I have NEVER allowed her to leave before she puts them all back and separates them by type...it's actually been a learning game for us in restaurants because it helps her matching abilities. We never ordered and walked out while the manager was watching and she never said a word. You would certainly think that, in this economy, they would try to keep customers instead of turning them off from ever coming back again.. Come on...this is an overpriced deli, not a 5-star restaurant and you're worried about jelly containers!!?? I know A LOT of Moms and they will all know how unfriendly this establishment was to me and my daughter.

I have eaten there twice and find the food very good but very pricy.
